Posted 15 May 2018 In this series I will take a look at some of the happenings in South Africa, spreading the word and starting the conversations between fellow South Africans and those interested in our story. But for a more informed opinion regarding the facts, I urge everyone to do their own research and make sure their media sources are trust worthy. The source video contains Rawula from the EFF addressing the parliament of South Africa regarding the status of the MINERAL AND PETROLEUM RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT NO. 28 OF 2002, last amended 6 June 2013. Rawula describes in detail the utter failure of the mines and the deterioration of the mining conditions since the state has acted as custodian of the land, for the benefit of the previously discriminated against people of South Africa as stated in the Constitution. Rawula speaks in his native tongue of how the people should start taking care of themselves, start planting seeds to feed their family. Rawula urges all South Africans to help each other out and grow a garden to feed our children. Start by supporting your local farmers markets. Where you can get great quality foods at amazing prices, fresh from the locals. So next Saturday morning, get up early, take a stroll, and get to meet your local farmers and crafters. Really inspiring words from Rawula. Currently the only solution on the table is to have the government take more control and rectify this situation. Feels like we are just throwing more petrol on the flames. The government should have a basic overview of what needs to be done under what regulation. But the responsibility should fall on the people directly responsible for the business and the surrounding area. The Owners must ensure they fall under the guidelines from the law, and the local elected officials should be responsible to inspect and approve the mines for good practises. So make sure you get to your local government meetings, otherwise those who do show up will have all the say in how the country is governed and how it will be implemented. If no one goes, any body can do what they want.
